But there's one thing I don't understand: so now, should they buy back Openfund using the 58,191.48 DESO they hold, and then also sell the Focus tokens to convert them into DESO? Since the unlocked ones amount to around $166k—an enormous sum—that would not only wipe out the Focus buffer and drive its price to zero, but also cause the price of Openfund to skyrocket exponentially... Can you tell me what will happen?

Core team has enough DESO to absorb all of the FOCUS sell pressure if they want to. But they might not to avoid getting dumped on by the unlocks. Maybe they set a lower bid price so that they honor the tokens and give Focus enough time to make a recovery. But, you never know. Depends on the big man.
