Stolen or unearned wealth carries a psychological and spiritual weight. The misery of stolen money is that it forces you to view the world through the lens of a thief. Because you obtained it through deception, you assume everyone else wants to deceive you. It destroys trust, invites paranoia, and ultimately consumes the person who possesses it.
